England opener Jason Roy avoided suspension and got away with just 30% match fee cut off in their semifinal victory against Australia. He was accused of an animated outburst aimed at umpire Kumara Dharmasena after being given out incorrectly in the 20th over.

Roy was batting at 85 runs then, leading England close to victory. In a short delivery from Pat Cummins, Roy attempted a pull shot but missed the bat by miles. Australian Wicket-keeper Alex Carrey appealed along with the bowler and some of the Australian fielders. Dharmasena looked unsure at first but he raised the finger. Roy was frustrated in this wrong decision. Stamp mic even caught him yelling "that's f***ing embarrassing". Roy couldn’t also use the review as Jonny Bairstow used the review immaturely earlier.
It was seemed the officials could take serious actions against Roy for the dissent. But he was allowed to get away with the fine and two demerit points. Demerit points stay for two years, and if Roy gets two more demerit points beside his name he will be banned for one Test or two ODIs or two T20Is, whichever is scheduled first.
If Roy got banned he could have missed the most important match of his career. The World Cup final against New Zealand. England camp will heave a sigh of relief as that didn’t happen. Roy has been in superb form in this World Cup. He scored 426 runs (7 matches) in this World Cup with an average of 71.
England will play New Zealand in the World Cup final on July 14, Sunday at Lords. The match will start at 3.30 pm (BD Time).
