Pace bowler Abu Jayed insisted that they need to hold their patience in order to earn success against Zimbabwe in the two match Test series, scheduled at Sylhet from November 3.

The local boy is expected to be one of the major attraction in the opening Test considering it will mark the debut of eighth Test venue of the country with the first Test match.

Jayed is considered to be a find for the host in the longer formats for his ability to bowl long spells in trying condition without losing his line and length to severe extent.

“Patience is important in Test cricket and we developed it by playing first-class cricket. See, you have to bowl long spells if you want a wicket. I was hungry for wickets and because of that I had to be patient while bowling long spells,” Jayed told reporters ahead of the opening Test.

“We have been playing first-class cricket on these kinds of wickets. We bowled the maximum overs with the old ball and last season the pacers bowled well with the old ball, so we will have to provide breakthroughs with both new ball and old,” he said

According to Jayed it will not be a big problem to bowl with SG ball despite they were quite successful with the Dukes ball in the last series in West Indies.

“It's true that you get much swing with the Dukes ball, but SG is also the same as Dukes. And if there is no swing initially, we can reverse-swing the ball because there is movement in the SG ball,’’ said Jayed.

‘’If it is a flat wicket, there is a chance of reverse swing,” he added.
