Abdur Razzak to join the 500 club

Bangladeshi spinner Abdur Razzak has not featured in the national team since their tour of West Indies in 2014. He has taken 207 wickets in 153 ODIs for his national side. The bowler still holds the lowest bowling average as well as the third place among the leading wicket-takers in the 50-over game for Bangladesh.
The 35-year-old has not been in contention for any national call-ups from the selectors in the last 3 years, but kept performing well in the domestic circuit. He has been very consistent in the domestic leagues in the last few years.
Razzak was the leading wicket-taker in the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) last season. He took a total of 38 wickets in 6 matches in that edition.

The bowler scalped 239 wickets in the last 5 years in first-class cricket. He had bagged a total of 490 wickets in first-class games before today's match.
Abdur Razzak is now the leading wicket-taker in the history of the country's most elite form of domestic cricket. The left-arm spinner is now just 4 wickets away from becoming the first Bangladeshi cricketer to take 500 wickets in first-class cricket.
Today, in the match between Prime Bank (South Zone) and Islami Bank (East Zone) Razzak took a five-wicket haul. This was the 30th time that the spinner has picked up a fifer in first-class cricket. Although Mominul Haque smashed a well deserved double-ton for the East Zone on their way of scoring 546 runs, Razzak finished the day with 6 wickets under his belt.
There are doubts that this veteran bowler can join the 500 club in the 1st round of the BCL as his team, the South Zone, are now trailing by 418 runs with their score at 128/3. South Zone need 219 more runs to avoid follow-on and give Razzak another chance with the ball.
