BCB has recently announced a 16-men squad for the tri-nation series. A squad consisting of 15 players is announced ahead of any series in general. Imrul Kayes is the reason that the selectors had to name an additional player.

According to the chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu, the in-form opener's injury concern has led to such occurrence. Following the announcement of the squad he said, "We have five ODIs. We will be playing four-five ODIs at home after a long time. That is the reason why we have taken an extra player. Imrul is the reason,"

"He has an injury-related issue. Keeping this matter in mind we have named sixteen players. The team management have plans of forming the team according to the condition. We have taken an extra pacer," he added.

Another opening batsman Soumya Sarkar was dropped from the team due to his lack of consistency. Nannu is hopeful about Soumya's return.

"No matter which format a player plays in, his performance has to be evaluated. As they are going to play in the domestic league after a long time, their performance have to be better than others," he said.

The chief selector also talked about Litton Das and Mominul Haque. These two players were included in the 32-men training camp but could not make it to the final squad.

Nannu said, "Mominul has not been in the ODI or T20I team for quite a long time. We had kept him due to Tamim's injury. We will use him in case of any emergency,"

According to him, they are preparing the Litton for the longer version of the game.
