Poor return for Mashrafe, Tamim in BBPL opener

While they are expected to mark their return with some different things, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Tamim Iqbal quite did not live up to the expectation in their first game in the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL).
Both Mashrafe and Tamim Iqbal were drafted in for Dhaka Platoon in the BBPL and played their first match against Rajshahi Royals on Thursday.

It was the first match for Mashrafe since his disappointing World Cup in which he just took one wicket in eight matches. Tamim Iqbal also went through a patchy form in World Cup before his form hit the lowest ebb during the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.
Tamim subsequently took rest from the one-off Test series against Afghanistan and tri-nation T20 series that also involved Zimbabwe and Afghanistan. He then returned to cricket during National Cricket League (NCL) but couldn’t’ do anything worthy before opting out India series due to be with this ailing wife who was expecting the second child.
So it was any sense a first game for Tamim after a long gap. But he was able to score just 5 runs on his return.
Mashrafe batted nicely towards the end and hit two sixes to score 10 ball-18 not out that was catalyst to give Dhaka Platoon bowlers something to defend.
