Bangladesh opener Soumya Sarkar insisted that they are well aware that New Zealand pace bowlers will try to give them a hard time initially and added that they need to plan on how handle the initial burst without getting into trouble in the opening 10 overs.

‘’No matter how many runs we score if we don’t lose any wicket in the first 10 overs it will be helpful for us. What I have noticed that they try to picking up wickets inside the first 10 overs.  Their main strength is swing and pace and if we can manage to withstand that early storm than it will put us in a comfortable place,’’ said Soumya.

New Zealand pace bowlers reduced Bangladesh to 42-4 and 40-4 inside 10 overs in the opening and in the last game of the series while in the second game the visitors were struggling at 3-48 inside 13 overs, exposing their weakness against pace and swing.

‘’The wicket against New Zealand won’t be the same like the ones where we played against Africa as that was a used wicket. It will be different wicket and their bowlers have both pace and swing so we need to plan our innings accordingly.

We have to learn how to adapt in fresh wickets and tackle bowlers who are capable of bowling fast as well as swing the ball too. If the wicket is good we will try to play according to the merit of the ball but if there is swing we need to take our time. Last time we scored quite a few runs in the power play but it might not be the case in the next game so we must be prepared for everything,’’ he said.

Soumya said that they are well aware that New Zealand pace bowlers will try to give them a hard time initially and added that they need to plan on how handle the initial burst without getting into trouble in the opening 10 overs.
