On 17th May,Friday, Bangladesh will face West Indies in the Tri-nation series final. This is the seventh time that Bangladesh have gone on to the final of any tournament.

But the surprising fact is that Bangladesh have lost all of their six previous finals. Would this time be any different?

In cricketing world South Africa is well known as chokers, in recent years Bangladesh have also shared the burden.

Bangladesh played their first final in 2009 in a tri nation series between Sri-Lanka and Zimbabwe. In that final Bangladesh lost the final against Sri-Lanka because of Muralidharan. He scored 33 runs out of 16 balls and took the match away from Bangladesh.

Bangladesh’s second heartbreak was against Pakistan in the 2012 Asia Cup. In that tournament Tamim Iqbal scored four consecutive half centuries. But at the end Bangladesh came short by only 2 runs. The crying faces of Musfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Nasir Hossain still hurt Bangladeshi supporters.

Four years later Bangladesh lost to India in Asia Cup T20 final. They lost that match by 8 wickets.

2018 was an unlucky year for Bangladesh. In this year they lost three consecutive finals. First, they lost the tri-nation series final against Sri-Lanka in January, Zimbabwe was the third team in that tri nation tournament.

After that, they lost another final against India in the Nidahas Trophy. 5 runs were needed in the last ball of Soumya Sarker then Dinesh Karthik hit the winning six and drowned Bangladesh in to the ocean of sorrow once again.

Bangladesh lost the third final of the year once again against India in the 2018 Asia Cup. After a blistering century of Liton Das in that match India won the match by 3 wickets.

But after this entire sad story, there is silver lining for the Tigers. This is first time Bangladesh is playing against a non-Asian opponent. Bangladesh have shown total domination in this Tri-nation series. They have beaten West Indies twice in this series. Bangladesh is looking forward to being lucky for the seventh time. This win is extremely crucial for Bangladesh cricket to be confident in the upcoming world cup. And also Bangladesh will want to break this horrific curse.
