Brothers survive relegation scare to stay in DPL

Fazle Rabbi hit a superb century to help Brothers Union crush BKSP by six wickets at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium on Sunday to avoid being relegated to the first division.


Rabbi’s 117 ball-127 not out was key in Brothers’ crucial victory as they reached 241-4 in 47.2 overs, overhauling BKSP’s 235-7 in 50 overs.

The victory helped Brothers stay in the DPL while BKSP and Uttara, the other two teams which played the relegation league were demoted to the first division.


After their loss to Uttara in the first match of relegation league, Brother stood on the brink of being relegated but the victory against BKSP helped them edged Uttara with better-run-rate even though the two teams had 8 points from 13 games. BKSP had 5 points from 13 games.


For BKSP, Aminul Islam was the highest scorer with 90 while captain Akbar Ali made an unbeaten 56. Mohammad Sahazada and Naeem Islam Junior took two wickets for Brothers.



While Fazle Rabbi led the chase with his second century in the league, he got apt support from Shariful islam who hit 65.
