Chittagong Division suffered a massive 214-run defeat against Dhaka Division in the Tier 2 clash of the National Cricket League, on Thursday (October 4).
Resuming the second innings from 135/3, on day-4, both Tasamul Haque and Saeed Sarkar had to leave the crease adding the next 15 runs. Mahidul Islam Ankon and Mohammad Saifuddin then stitched together a 100-run stand, in a bid to save the match for Chittagong, who still needed 232 runs to win the game.
Nazmul Islam, who picked up two wickets earlier on the fourth day, also removed both Ankon and Saifuddin and took his tally of wickets to five in the second innings. Ankon made 47 runs before returning to the pavilion and Mohammad Saifuddin picked up his half-century and scored 60 runs before getting dismissed.
Shahadat Hossain then wiped out the tail to bundle out Chittagong for 267 runs and completed his four-fer.

Rony Talukder was named the Man of the Match for his brilliant double-century in the second innings, which saw Dhaka comfortably declaring their innings at 385/1. Talukder had also belted a half-century when Dhaka registered a 238-run total, before Dhaka’s clinical bowling attack wrapped up Chittagong’s first innings for 142 runs.
Chittagong Division will face Sylhet Division in their next clash, starting on October 8. Dhaka Division will take on Dhaka Metro in their second match of the league.
