Ariful's double ton puts Rangpur forward

Rangpur Division ended their first innings on a high as their batsman, Ariful Haque, converted his triple figure score from day-1 to a double century on the second day of their National Cricket League match against Barisal Division, in Tier 1.


Rangpur registered a total of 502 runs losing all their wickets. On the other hand, Barisal posted 91 runs for the loss of one wicket at the end of day-2.


Resuming Rangpur’s innings on a total of 300, Ariful went on to score 231 runs and helped his team reach 500 runs, before finally getting dismissed by Sohag Gazi, who took three wickets in the match. Monir Hossain also took as many wickets for Barisal while Kamrul Islam took two scalps and Linkon Dey and Salman Hossain shared the rest of the wickets.

Naeem Islam, who got out for 92 runs on the previous day, was Rangpur’s second-highest scorer as the rest of the batters could not score past 45 runs.


Barisal then saw a 71-run stand between their openers, which was broken by Mahmudul Hasan as he dismissed Shahreer Nafees for 24 runs. Another opener, Rafsan Al Mahmud, picked up his fifty and finished the being unbeaten on 53 runs. He will resume the third day’s play for Barisal along with Fazle Mahmud, who remained not out on 12 runs.
