Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza insisted that there is no need for rest despite completing an exhausting campaign at the Asia Cup in the UAE over the last two weeks.
In the hot and humid conditions of the UAE where they have never played before, the Mashrafe-led men tried to cope well with a packed schedule and regular journeys from one venue to another. Two of their players were ruled out due to injuries in the middle of the tournament, while two others gave them brief injury scares, including the captain himself.
Although they could not have the last laugh, a depleted Bangladesh team tried their best against all odds and finished the tournament as the runners-up.

According to Mashrafe, the gloominess on their faces is not because of losing in the final match, it perhaps is the proof of tiring tournament that they had.
“We played five matches in the last eight days and [regular] two-hour journeys were also there. We definitely had enough pressure on our bodies.
“And at the same time we are very disappointed, [I] can’t say that we are very happy to have lost. We definitely wanted to win although some things were missing in the team. But we are just tired, that’s it,” he said.
It is understood that the team management will not rest any other players as they will already miss the service of their ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan in the upcoming series while Tamim Iqbal might also be sidelined.
“We’ve just finished the Asia Cup. These things have not been discussed yet. It can be discussed after everyone has taken their regular few days’ rest.
“I do not think anybody needs to rest. If anyone requires it then he can say. But no-one has said anything [regarding this matter] so far,” said the Bangladesh skipper.
“No x-ray has been done yet. Let’s see what happens,” he said regarding his own finger injury.
