Mashrafe adds to Bangladesh's growing injury list

Bangladesh ODI skipper Mashrafe Mortaza’s recent injury scare has added to the team’s woes. However, unlike Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan, who have been ruled out of the Asia Cup due to injuries, he will continue to play for the Tigers and lead them when they meet India in the Asia Cup final on September 28.
Mashrafe suffered a dislocated right little finger while taking a brilliant catch at short mid-wicket to dismiss Shoaib Malik who brought his side back in the game by sharing a 67-run stand with Imam-ul-Haq after Pakistan’s shaky start.

Although the team saw another 71-run partnership between Imam and Asif Ali, that catch was the turning point for Bangladesh as Rubel Hossain could successfully remove Pakistan’s highest run-scorer (till the Bangladesh-Pakistan clash) in the tournament.
“Shoaib Malik hit the ball hard. Before ending up in my left hand, it [the ball] also touched the right hand. Only then did I get that it’s been dislocated. I relocated it on my own. There is a lot of pain. Physio said that finger might have a minor fracture. It may be understood after scanning,” Mashrafe reportedly said.
“But I'm not thinking about it now. I have to play in the final. Thinking about it will only add to the difficulties,” he added.
The Tigers have already lost a final to India in the Nidahas Trophy earlier this year. Playing in a different format this time, the Mashrafe-led men will undoubtedly look for a change in fortune while also hoping to be third-time lucky to lift their coveted trophy.
