Bangladesh and Afghanistan will face each other in their next Super Four encounter on September 23. After losing their respective first matches in this round, it goes without saying that both will be desperate to stay alive in this tournament.
Bangladesh have already lost a game against Afghanistan, although two of their most important players – Mushfiqur Rahim a Mustafizur Rahman – did not feature in that group-match.
Despite their poor result against Afghanistan in limited-overs cricket in recent past, Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza is hopeful of mounting a comeback against the emerging force of world cricket.

“Frustrating, but we are still in the tournament,” Mashrafe told the reporters after losing to India. “There are two more matches. We’ll try to come back in the next match by rectifying our mistakes and staying positive.”
“If we can win the match against Afghanistan, then it will be a 50-50 chance against Pakistan,” he said.
Bangladesh surely have the ability to turn around in such pressure situations and fit into the equation, and they have shown it in the past during the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017 and the Nidahas Trophy this year.
Mashrafe insisted that the Tigers can once again go against all odds and make it possible for them to stay in the race.
“Since we have come back from such situations in the past, nothing is impossible,” he said.
