BCB name fill-in chairman of BPL governing council

Disciplinary committee vice-chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB], Sheikh Sohel, has been named acting chairman of the Bangladesh Premier League [BPL] governing council, on Saturday. The board is yet to announce the date for the next election for the position of chairman of the governing council has not been announced.
The post went vacant after the death of Afzalur Rahman Sinha, on August 8.
“Shiekh Sohel will be take up the role of the acting chairman of BPL Governing Council,” confirmed governing council member-secretary Ismail Haider Mallick.

“Today, we had a meeting with the BPL franchises. The BPL will start from January 5. We’ve finalized some decisions for that,” he added.
The sixth edition of the BPL is scheduled to start on January 5 next year. However, according to Mallick, the opening date can be brought forward by a day.
“The January 5th date may be pushed back for a day,” said Mallick.
The seven-team T20 tournament was previously planned to be held in October, but the national elections of the country forced the board to have some changes in their plan.
