Work hard when you are on your peak- Tamim

Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal said that he is keen to prolong his purple patch with the willow by working hard when everything is falling into place for him.
Tamim looks determined to keep no stone unturned as far as preparation is concerned for the upcoming Asia Cup. He is well aware of the fact that his skill and temperament will be tested during the tournament which is scheduled to start on September 15, in the UAE.
Tamim was seen working on his batting skills in the academy premise whereas his teammates are still enjoying Eid vacation. The 31-member preliminary squad of the Tigers is expected to join the training camp that will resume on August 27.
The left-handed batsman's desperation for doing well is quite amazing considering his brilliant outings in West Indies, where he smashed two centuries in a three-match ODI series.
‘’I always believe that I can’t guarantee success and scoring runs, but if I can prepare myself hundred percent then the job gets easier,’’ said Tamim.

‘’Even if I fail despite preparing well then I can tell myself that I have tried my best but it didn’t work.
‘’It’s important to prepare well to play well and that’s the reason behind my extra workload.
"I believe you should work the most when you are having a good form in the middle because it is difficult to keep the motivation when you are going through a low phase,’’ he added.
Mohammad Salahuddin, one of the country's leading coaches, has also emphasized on needs based coaching.
‘’I think the training is more needs based. It is true that we focused on different areas during the session we had before the series against West Indies. Now we are focusing on different aspects,’’ he said.
‘’You must take into consideration what kind of wickets you are expected to get and who will be your opponents and design the session accordingly,’’ he added.
According to Salahuddin, the focal point of the session was to make Tamim understand the importance trying to use full follow through on his drives as check drives are considered a big hindrance towards putting power in the shot.
‘’If you see he is scoring more shots square the wicket these days rather than playing those drives that used to be his major strength in the earlier days,’’ said Salahuddin.
‘’Probably he is trying to play more check drives and that diminishes his power but if he can just get the follow through when he is driving, it will surely be more advantageous,’’ he added.
