Bangladesh opening batsman Tamim Iqbal said that Mashrafe bin Morataza's arrival in the West Indies helped the Tigers regain their confidence as he brought lot of positivity with him.
Mashrafee’s leadership has played a pivotal role in helping Bangladesh earn a reputable position in ODIs, over the last few years during the series against West Indies it was needed even more as the Tigers where embarrassed earlier in the Test series through a clean sweep by the host.
“Naturally we were very down after the Test series. Mashrafe bhai made a very big contribution to our turnaround,’’ Tamim told reporters at Mirpur.

“He didn’t bat or bowl for any of us but he changed the dressing room atmosphere, particularly after a bad Test series. He brought a positive vibe, which spread among all of us.
According to the left-handed batsman, the captain had figured out the kind of advantage West Indies could get at the St Kitts, and planned accordingly ahead of the third ODI.
Mashrafe topped the wicket-taking list in the three-match series, bowling off a reduced run-up. Tamim, on the other hand, was the highest run-getter in the ODIs.
“Guyana was suiting us. St Kitts was in their favor. After losing the second game, we discussed with Mashrafe bhai. This is where he made the difference. We realized the third game would be difficult for both sides. Rather than worrying before getting to the field, we should first play and then think about it,” Tamim said.
Bangladesh won the ODI series opener convincingly before West Indies made it all square with a narrow win in the second game. The Tigers then claimed a 19-run victory the decisive third match at St Kitts and recorded an away series win after nine long years.
The Mashrafe-led men were seen handling the death overs effectively in the ODIs, a problem that troubled the the team in their T20I outings in Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.
