Bangladesh will kick off their Caribbean campaign on Sunday with a two-day warm-up match against the CWI Select XI at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.
The game, starting at 8:00 PM Bangladesh time, serves as preparation for the Tigers ahead of their final series in the ICC Test Championship 2023-25 cycle—a two-Test showdown against the West Indies, set to begin on November 22 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.
In their last three Test series against Pakistan, India, and South Africa, Bangladesh only played a warm-up match before facing Pakistan, where the A team, featuring several Test squad players, competed against Pakistan Shaheens.
This warm-up match will be crucial for Mehidy Hasan Miraz and co. to finalize their team combination, especially in the absence of regular captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, who is sidelined due to a groin injury.
On the other hand, the West Indies are approaching the warm-up seriously, fielding three Test squad players—captain Kraigg Brathwaite, all-rounder Justin Greaves, and uncapped batter Tevin Imlach—in their 13-member squad for the match.
