The highly anticipated IPL 2025 Mega Auction will take place in Saudi Arabia during the third week of November. After an extended retention phase and several rule changes, this year’s auction is expected to bring a fresh dynamic to team compositions.
Earlier reports confirmed that 13 Bangladeshi cricketers had registered for the auction. On Friday, the IPL governing body unveiled the shortlist of 574 players, which includes two familiar Bangladeshi names—Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman.
Litton Kumar Das, who played one match for Kolkata Knight Riders in a previous season, has also made it to the list.
Joining Shakib and Mustafiz are 10 more Bangladeshi players in the auction pool: Rishad Hossain, Litton, Towhid Hridoy, Taskin Ahmed, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Sheikh Mehedi Hasan, Hasan Mahmud, and Nahid Rana.
Only Tiger pacer Shahidul Islam has been omitted from the preliminary list.
Out of the 574 Players, 366 are Indian and 208 are overseas, including 3 players from associate nations. The auction will include 318 uncapped Indian players and 12 uncapped overseas players.
204 slots will be up for grabs with 70 available slots for overseas players. INR 2 Crore is the highest reserve price with 81 players opting to be in the highest bracket.
12 marquee players whose names will kick off the IPL 2025 auction as Indian players make up seven of the marquee names at the auction.
Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and Arshdeep Singh are among the first set of six marquee players, while the second includes KL Rahul, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj.
The five overseas names are Australia left-arm quick Mitchell Starc, who broke the record for the highest-ever bid at an IPL auction ahead of the 2024 season, England white-ball captain Jos Buttler, England allrounder Liam Livingstone, South Africa power-hitter David Miller and South Africa quick Kagiso Rabada.
