Bangladesh veteran opener Tamim Iqbal has expressed interest in participating in the upcoming National Cricket League (NCL) T20 tournament, selector Hannan Sarkar revealed on Wednesday.
The NCL T20 tournament is likely to start between December 9 to 11, following the conclusion of the four-day competition on December 3. However, Hannan emphasized that Tamim must go through the standard fitness assessment.
“If he plays, he will naturally represent Chattogram Division. We’ll discuss how many matches he will play and when. Fitness tests are mandatory for everyone, and Tamim will need to pass it as well. This is a straightforward process,” Hannan said while speaking to reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
Tamim, who has been training individually in Mirpur in recent days, last played competitive cricket in the previous season of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL).
The left-handed batter has also been retained as captain by defending champions Fortune Barishal for the upcoming 11th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
