Bangladesh HP team depart for month-long tour in Australia

The Bangladesh High-Performance team departed for the first-ever tour of Australia after 19 years on Saturday.

The 22-member team will reach Australia on Sunday and will begin their practice on July 16 before taking on Pakistan Shaheens in two four-day matches, scheduled in Darwin from July 19 and 26 respectively.

Opener Mahmudul Hasan will lead the four-day squad with assistance from middle-order Shahadat Hossain in two four-day games.

According to the FTP, Bangladesh will visit Australia for a Test series in 2027, Joy feels that their tour to Australia with the HP Unit will help them prepare for the Tests.

"It's an important tour for us, especially since we have a Test series in 2027 in Australia. I think this tour will serve as a good preparation for that series," Joy said before leaving for Australia.

Following the longer-version games HP Unit will play a 50-over tri-series involving Pakistan Shaheens and Northern Territory of Australia. The HP Unit will start the series against Northern Territory on 1 August and conclude against Shaheens on 6 August.

They will depart on July 13 and will conclude their tour by taking part in the Northern Territory's T20 Series that will feature Pakistan Shaheens along with some leading Big Bash outfits.
