Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury revealed that the 11th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) players draft will be held in the first week of September.

According to the schedule, the upcoming season of the only franchise cricket tournament in the country is scheduled to be held in January 2025. The BPL governing committee has reached out to all the franchises ahead of the upcoming season and they will announce the official date soon.

“We have communicated with the last year’s participants of BPL. Most teams have confirmed participation (in the upcoming season). Two teams are uncertain. After their decision, we will take the next steps . We will progress step by step," said CEO to the media.

BCB might have to face scheduling challenges for the upcoming BPL season due to the ICC Champions Trophy, being held in the third week of February 2025. The BPL schedule will require adjustments to adapt in the middle of the major ICC event.

"The players' draft may take place in the first week of September. The commitments we have in FTP or in ICC major events, we will adjust accordingly. If fine-tuning is needed in any area, we will do it,” he added.

In the previous season of BPL, teams such as Rangpur Riders, Fortune Barisal, Durdanto Dhaka, Khulna Tigers, Sylhet Strikers, and Chittagong Challengers, along with Comilla Victorians took part in the competition. Barishal, led by Tamim Iqbal, emerged as the champions after defeating Comilla.
