Fargana’s record ton goes in vain as SA level series

South Africa women leveled the ODI series despite Fargana Haque’s record ton in the second match at the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom on Wednesday.

Fargana helped Bangladesh post 222/4 as the Proteas women beat the visitors by eight wickets to make the series 1-1.

Fargana was the rock of the Bangladeshi innings, almost carrying her bat as she scored 102 off 167 balls, having struck 11 fours, before she was run out in the final over of their innings.

She also rewrote her country’s record book along the way as became the first Bangladeshi player to score two ODI hundreds and also becoming the first Bangladeshi to score an ODI hundred overseas.

Captain Laura Wolvaardt (54) Tazmin Brits (50) Anneke Bosch (65*) these trio half-centuries brushed away the game from the Tigresses.

Bangladesh won the opener by 119 runs in East London over the past weekend.
