The six-wicket haul is Hasan’s best figures in Test cricket and the best bowling performance by a Bangladesh bowler against Australia in an innings. It also ranks second among the best innings figures recorded in Test matches in Darwin, behind Michael Kasprowicz’s 7/39 against Sri Lanka in 2004.
Hasan’s effort also helped Bangladesh achieve a notable feat, with the country’s pacers claiming all 10 Australian wickets in a Test innings in Darwin.
Speaking after his outstanding spell, Hasan said he was particularly excited to play against one of the world’s leading teams.
“Yeah, I was really excited to play here in Australia because they are one of the best teams in the world. I just tried to follow my line and length. I also followed what my captain asked me to do.”
He also praised his fellow pacers for their contribution.
“Yes, they did a great job too.”
Hasan credited his recent experience playing red-ball cricket in England, which he believes has helped his development as a Test bowler.
“Yes, that was a great experience for me, playing in England. Hopefully, I will continue to play for Kent.”
Australia’s 198 is also their lowest total against Bangladesh in Test cricket, surpassing their previous low of 217 in Mirpur in 2017.
For Hasan, the performance marks another significant step in his development as a red-ball bowler, with his previous best Test figures being 5/43 against Pakistan in Rawalpindi in 2024.
