The two-day workshop will be held on August 11-12 at the Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram and will be conducted by BCB Head of Turf Management Tony Hemming, an ICC-certified turf specialist with extensive international experience.
A total of 90 participants, 30 each from Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet will take part in the programme. Those who successfully complete the course will receive a Level-1 curator certification.
BCB Grounds Committee Member Secretary Mazhar Uddin Omi told Cricfrenzy the initiative aims to build a pool of qualified local curators while reducing dependence on overseas professionals.
“To improve the skills of local curators and groundsmen, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is introducing a Level 1 Curator Certification Course for the first time. The two-day training programme will be held in Chattogram on August 11 and 12, with 30 curators from Dhaka, Sylhet and Chattogram taking part,” Omi said.
“The initiative aims to enhance the standard of local groundsmen and curators while reducing Bangladesh's reliance on foreign experts. At present, the country has only three or four senior-level local curators. BCB believes that producing more qualified local curators will help improve the overall quality of pitches and grounds across the country” he added.
He added that Tony Hemming, who has conducted similar workshops around the world, will lead the programme.
“The course will be conducted under the supervision of BCB Head of Turf Management Tony Hemming. Only participants who successfully pass the assessment will be awarded the Level 1 certification.”
