Shoriful, a councillor from the Feni District Sports Association, was initially set to contest alongside Moin Uddin Chowdhury in the Chattogram division. However, his withdrawal ensured that Nannu and Moin secured director positions without a contest.
Several other candidates from different divisions are also set to become directors unopposed. From the Dhaka division, Said Bin Zaman and SM Abdullah Al Fuad are expected to secure positions, while Mirza Faisal Amin from Rangpur and Mir Shakhrul Alam Shimanto from Rajshahi are also set to enter the board without facing elections.
From the Sylhet division, Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury is also expected to become a BCB director unopposed.
Meanwhile, competition remains in some regions. In the Khulna division, Shafiqul Alam will contest against Shantanu Islam and Abdus Salam for two available positions. In Barishal, the contest will feature Mizanur Rahman, owner of the BPL franchise Fortune Barishal, and Muntasir Alam Chowdhury.
In Category-3, Siraj Uddin Mohammad Alamgir has emerged as the sole nominee and is therefore set to become a director without opposition.
The club category also saw changes before the election, with two candidates withdrawing their nominations. As a result, 16 candidates will now contest 12 director positions, down from the initially expected 18.
Among the notable names in the club category is current BCB president Tamim Iqbal, who will contest from Old DOHS Sports Club. Other candidates include representatives from Abahani, Mohammedan, Shinepukur and several other clubs.
The BCB board election is scheduled for June 7, with 23 directors to be elected across three categories.
