BCB name 16-member squad for historic Australia ODI series

Bangladesh have named a 16-member squad for their three-match ODI series against Australia, with Nigar Sultana Joty as captain and Nahida Akter as vice-captain.

Marufa Akter will lead the pace attack, while 17-year-old Habiba Islam Pinky has also been included. Experienced batter Farzana Haque returns to the ODI squad, with Murshida Khatun and young all-rounder Disha Biswas also making comebacks.

The series is part of the ICC Women’s Championship, with Bangladesh currently eighth in the standings.

Meanwhile, BCB has appointed David Hemp as the Head Coach of the Women's Team for the coming two years.

Hemp, 55, will begin his two-year stint with the national women's team when he joins the squad in Brisbane for the upcoming ODI tour of Australia, the BCB confirmed in a press release today.

Squad: Nigar Sultana Joty (c), Nahida Akter, Shorna Akter, Marufa Akter, Rabeya Khan, Ritu Moni, Sobhana Mostary, Sarmin Sultana, Sharmin Akter Supta, Shanjida Akther Maghla, Sultana Khatun, Dilara Akter, Farzana Haque, Disha Biswas, Murshida Khatun, Habiba Islam Pinky.

The three ODIs will be played in Brisbane on October 9, 11 and 14
