Lizelle Lee powered Hobart Hurricanes to their first-ever WBBL title with a devastating unbeaten half-century against Perth Scorchers in the final.

After restricting the Scorchers to a modest 137/5, the Hurricanes cruised to the target with five overs to spare.

Lee set the tone early with three consecutive boundaries in the opening over, while Danielle Wyatt-Hodge followed suit as Hurricanes surged to 24 without loss.

Wyatt-Hodge fell in the sixth over, but Lee continued her onslaught and found support from Nat Sciver-Brunt. The match was effectively sealed when Lee smashed multiple sixes off Alana King, bringing up her fifty and breaking the record for the highest score in a WBBL final.

Earlier, Scorchers struggled for momentum after a slow start. Beth Mooney, despite several reprieves, managed only 33, while late efforts from Sophie Devine and Paige Scholfield failed to provide the required acceleration.

The Scorchers’ total proved well short, as Lee’s brilliance ensured a dominant Hurricanes victory.
