Bangladesh pacer Marufa Akter suffered an injury in their Women’s World Cup clash against England. Despite the 4-wicket loss, she impressed by taking two wickets for just 28 runs in her 5 overs.

She dismissed England’s Amy Jones and Tammy Beaumont, putting the opposition under significant pressure. However, Bangladesh could not capitalize and eventually lost the match.

Marufa felt a muscle strain in her leg during the latter part of her fifth over and was unable to continue bowling. Her absence disrupted Bangladesh’s bowling plans, and the team struggled to take crucial breakthroughs in the middle overs.

A team management source told Cricfrenzy that Marufa is currently in good condition and expected to play against New Zealand on Friday.

“She was ready to bowl towards the end of the England innings, but the management didn’t want to take any risks. She is resting now and is expected to play in the next match,” the source said.

Marufa had also been exceptional in Bangladesh’s opening match against Pakistan, taking 3 wickets for just 12 runs in 4 overs, including two top-order scalps, highlighting her importance to the team.
