After opting to bat first at Lahore’s Sports Complex, Bangladesh overcame an early setback with a crucial 103-run partnership between Sharmin Akhter Supta (57 off 79) and opener Fargana Hoque (57 off 84). Skipper Nigar Sultana Joty then led a late charge, smashing an unbeaten 83 off 59 balls, laced with 11 boundaries. Valuable contributions also came from Ritu Moni (12) and Fahima Khatun (26 off 22), pushing Bangladesh to a formidable total.
In reply, Scotland faltered early, losing their top three wickets for just 31 runs. Bangladesh maintained pressure and had them reeling at 110 for 7. However, a spirited 115-run stand between Bengali-origin cricketer Priyanaz Chatterji (61 off 63) and Rachel Slater (63*), both batting in the lower middle order, gave Scotland a fighting chance.

But Bangladesh’s bowlers held their nerve. Left-arm spinner Nahida Akter led the charge with 4 wickets for 40 runs in her 10 overs, while Jannatul Ferdus added two more scalps.

Earlier in the tournament, Bangladesh had registered a massive 178-run win over Thailand and followed it up with a narrow two-wicket victory against Ireland. With three wins in three games, their chances of qualifying for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in India this September have significantly improved.
The Tigresses are now firmly eyeing a spot on the global stage, carrying momentum and belief into their remaining matches.
