Hathurusingha responds to BCB but termination stands

Chandika Hathurusingha has responded via his lawyer to the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) show-cause notice on Wednesday, he sent his response via email to CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury.
On Tuesday, BCB President Faruk Ahmed issued a show-cause notice and suspended the Tigers' head coach, following allegations that Hathurusingha physically assaulted Nasum Ahmed in the dressing room during the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup in Chennai.
Meanwhile, the BCB has officially terminated Hathurusingha, canceling his contract on Thursday, which was initially set to run until the 2024 Champions Trophy.
Today, the BCB formalized the decision to terminate Hathurusingha during an emergency Zoom meeting. BCB President Faruk, who is currently in Dubai for an ICC meeting, along with other board directors in Bangladesh, participated in the virtual meeting.
During today’s Zoom meeting, there was a discussion regarding Hathurusingha’s response and his potential legal action. It was also discussed that if the former coach pursues legal proceedings, the BCB will handle the matter through legal channels as well.
After sacking Hathurusingha, BCB appointed former West Indies coach Phil Simmons, who has already started working with the team ahead of the South Africa series.
