BPL will miss Comilla Victorians, says Imrul Kayes

This year’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will be without four-time champions Comilla Victorians as the former captain Imrul Kayes expressed disappointment. Imrul believes that without a team like Comilla, the BPL will lose much of its color and excitement.
Two months ago, a political shift in Bangladesh led to former Prime Minister and Awami League leader Sheikh Hasina fleeing away from the country. It has been reported that Comilla franchise owner Nafisa Kamal has also left the country, which is why the team will not participate in this year’s BPL.
Imrul, who led the franchise to three championships, views this as a setback for the league.
"I believe having a team like Comilla is good for the BPL. They always build a strong squad and bring in big-name players. In that sense, the BPL has lost some of its glamour without them. I’m not sure if other teams will be able to attract players the way Comilla did. I think the BPL will miss Comilla." Said Imrul to media in Mirpur.
Comilla has a strong reputation for signing top international players. Over the years, they have brought in stars like Mohammad Rizwan, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, and Moeen Ali.
For the past several seasons, Imrul has been a regular in Comilla’s lineup and captained the team for several editions before losing the captaincy to Litton Das last year.
When asked which team he might play for this season, Imrul revealed, "A couple of teams have spoken to me, but nothing official yet. We’ve had some verbal discussions. Our auction is on the 14th, and I think things will become clearer then. I’m not sure what grade I’m in, but we’ll know in a few days."
