Litton-Miraz write history in World Test cricket
|| CF DESK ||
Litton Das and Mehedi Hasan Miraz accomplished a unique feat in Test cricket today, becoming the first pair in history to forge a partnership of over 150 runs for the seventh or lower wicket after their team had lost six wickets with less than 50 runs on the board.
The duo built a remarkable 165-run stand for the seventh wicket on the third day of the second Test against Pakistan at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Their partnership began with Bangladesh in deep trouble, having lost six wickets for just 26 runs within 11 overs.
Litton and Miraz first handled the new ball, surviving a lethal spell from Khurram Manzur, who had taken four wickets in the morning session. As the innings progressed, they appeared increasingly comfortable against the Pakistan bowling attack.
Both batters reached their half-centuries in the second session and seemed on course to score centuries. However, Miraz fell for 48, caught and bowled by Manzur, ending the historic partnership.
Litton continued, eventually reaching his century before being dismissed for 138, caught at long-on off Salman Agha, leaving Bangladesh 12 runs short of Pakistan's first-innings total of 274.
