Asif Mahmud, Youth and Sports Ministry Adviser of the Interim Government came to office at the Secretariat on Sunday after taking charge as he answered various journalists' questions. Asif Mahmud mainly discussed about three topics regarding the country's sports.

One of these three issues is changing the name of Sheikh Hasina National Youth Development Institute and the other two are the Women's T20 World Cup to be held in Bangladesh and the future of the Bangladesh Cricket Board.

The Women’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to be held in Bangladesh from October 3 to October 20 this year. However, given the sudden changes in the country's current situation, questions have arisen about the feasibility of hosting the event.

In this context, the Youth and Sports Adviser stated, "We have discussed the Women's T20 World Cup with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The most critical issue at hand is ensuring security. There are certain measures that need to be taken at the state level to guarantee security. I will discuss this matter in detail today with Sir Yunus at Jamuna (the residence of Chief Advisor Dr. Muhmmad Yunus). He is a sports enthusiast and will support us in this matter."

"We will ensure security at the state level. There are travel restrictions from some countries, and we are looking into how we can resolve that. There are also some infrastructural issues. The Honorable Secretary has assured me that these will be addressed within the specified timeframe." Asif Mahmud further added.

Regarding the BCB, the Youth and Sports Advisor emphasized that everything will be resolved within the framework of the rules, saying, "The person holding the crucial position of Chairman is currently absent. However, the BCB is a federation under the ICC. We cannot make decisions on this matter. The directors of the BCB will determine how to resolve the issue while staying within ICC regulations. They will inform us later whether someone can be appointed for the interim period. We will keep the process ongoing."
