Bangladesh are ready to take on Netherlands in their third game to get back to winning way in the ongoing T20 World Cup at St. Vicent in West Indies on Thursday.
A win against Netherlands will keep them in the hunt of the Super 8 phase. Bangladesh edged Sri Lanka past by two wickets in a thrilling contest but conceded a heartbreaking four-run defeat to South Africa after failing to chase down just 114 runs.
Before the match, Bangladesh captain came Najmul Hossain Shanto has expressed the mental state of the players.
"We have a good chance. However, we need to play good cricket. We will definitely play to win. Hopefully, it will be a very good match. Every player is in a good mental state. We are hopeful for a good game." Shanto said.
Bangladesh is struggling with Shakib Al Hasan's form ahead of the World Cup. In the first match against Sri Lanka, Shakib went wicketless, giving away 30 runs. He then scored only 8 runs with the bat.
Against South Africa, he got to bowl just an over, conceding 6 runs without taking a wicket. Later, he was dismissed for just 3 runs with the bat.
Such performances have affected his ranking, dropping him from the top to fifth position. However, the Bangladesh captain is not worried about Shakib's form. He is hopeful that Shakib will return to his old self against the Netherlands.
"None of us in the team are worried about Shakib Bhai's performance. We don't even want to talk about it. We know how well he has performed over the years. What he expects from himself is important. He is working hard. I won't say he will make a comeback. He is in a good place. I hope he can perform even better tomorrow." Shanto said.
