Australia's Chief selector George Bailey and head coach Andrew McDonald had to step in as substitute fielders during Australia's T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up match against Namibia.
Australia had to play their team staff due to the absence of 6 team members who were taking a break after the IPL. As a result, head coach Andrew McDonald, assistants Brad Hodge and Andre Borovec, along with chief selector George Bailey, also served as substitute fielders during the match.
However, Australia won the match by seven wickets chasing down Namibia's 119 with 10 overs to spare.
David Warner smashed 54 runs and leg-spinner Adam Zampa was the pick of the bowlers taking three wickets and Josh Hazlewood picked up a couple of wickets.
The pacer dismissed both of Namibia’s openers to leave them at 19 for two before Zampa decimated the middle order.
Zampa picked up three wickets, getting the important dismissal of Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus for 15.
Wicketkeeper Zane Green played a crucial innings for his side as they looked to post a respectable total, hitting 38 from 30 balls to push Namibia to 119 for 9.
