Babar Azam has been reappointed as the captain of Pakistan's white-ball team, as announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday, March 31st.
After Pakistan failed to qualify for the semifinals in the 2023 World Cup, Babar Azam decided to step down from captaincy in all formats of the game.
"Babar Azam appointed as white-ball captain. Following unanimous recommendation from the PCB's selection committee, Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi has appointed Babar Azam as white-ball (ODI and T20I) captain of the Pakistan men's cricket team," a statement from PCB read.
Shaheen Afridi was appointed as the captain of Pakistan's T20I team, while Shan Masood was named as the Test captain after Babar Azam stepped down from the role.
However, within just three months of their appointments, Afridi was removed from his position, and Babar Azam will be leading the Pakistan team once again.
