Shakib Al Hasan expects to play second Test against Sri Lanka

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) cricket operation chairman, Jalal Yunus, said that all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is expected to make a comeback for the second Test of the ongoing series against Sri Lanka, slated to commence on March 30.
Initially ruled out for the Tests, Shakib's reversal comes as a significant development for the team, following his absence from the white-ball series against Sri Lanka and prior against New Zealand.
"We were expecting and he has also shown interest. We hope that through the second Test, Shakib will make a comeback to international cricket." Jalal said to Cricfrenzy on Saturday.
Shakib's return injects invaluable experience and depth into the Bangladesh squad, especially in the absence of Mushfiqur Rahim's, who is suffering from a thumb injury.
The Southpaw’s last Test appearance dates back to April 2023, during Bangladesh's series against Ireland on home soil.
Shakib is currently playing for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in the ongoing Dhaka Premier League for some match time.
