Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha said he would want Litton Das to regain his form and score more runs in red-ball cricket ahead of the upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka.

Litton was excluded from the squad during the third and final ODI against Sri Lanka after failing to score in the first two games, continuing his poor form in the format.

When asked how he would like Litton to perform in red-ball cricket, the coach responded that he wants Litton to score more runs. He was hopeful for Litton, despite his recent struggles with batting.

"Runs or fight? I expect him to bring lot more runs,” said Hathurusingha in the pre-match press conference on Thursday.

"He has played well. And this is a different ball game, he will get a lot more time to get himself in. We do not doubt his talent. We all know that he is going through a little bit of a rough patch in white-ball cricket. But red-ball cricket is a different ball game. So, hope that he will get back in form," he added.

Hathurusingha hinted at playing at least one fast bowler from the uncapped Mushfik Hasan and Nahid Rana who were named in the Test squad.

"Yeah, Rana-Mushfik bought a very exciting prospect for Bangladesh, cricket. They both can bowl 140 +. We have seen them bowling quick. They are young and strong boys. They had a good start to their first-class careers. They have bought a lot of hopes. This is very exciting. I'm looking forward to one of them playing this game. If not both," he added.
