Bangladesh dependable batter Litton Das was dropped from the squad amid the series due to a run of poor form. However, all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz believes Litton will soon find his form and make a strong comeback to the team.
Litton's exclusion from the team was a result of his continuous poor performance, including two ducks in two matches during the ongoing Sri Lanka series.
"Litton has played many memorable innings. I believe he has not been completely excluded. I have faith that he can make a comeback. He possesses the capability within him. We are aware of the type of player he is. Currently, he has been dropped. Perhaps he is out of form for a bit now. But I believe he will make a strong comeback to the Bangladesh team,” said Miraz in the press conference.
Litton was replaced by wicket-keeper batter Jaker Ali Anik ahead of the third ODI. The newly appointed chief selector, Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu, explained Litton's exclusion by stating, "Considering Litton's recent performances in white-ball cricket, we made this decision, taking into account the presence of two other capable openers in the squad."
Miraz said there is nothing called ‘autochoice’ in the team and everyone has to perform to hold their place in the team.
“One must consistently perform to be in the national team. If I don't play well, I will also be left out. Consistent performance is crucial for establishing oneself in the national team,” he said.
“Everyone has to go through ups and downs. In my opinion, staying in the team by performing is important. There is no auto choice, if you perform poorly, you may never get another opportunity in the team. This can happen in case of every player,” he added.
