Soumya Sarkar becomes fastest Bangladeshi to reach 2k ODI runs

During the second ODI against Sri Lanka at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, top-order batter Soumya Sarkar etched his name in the record books as the fastest Bangladeshi to amass 2000 runs in ODIs.


Surpassing the milestone in just his 64th ODI innings, Sarkar eclipsed the previous record held by Shahriar Nafees, who achieved the feat in 65 innings.

Following closely behind, Litton Das secured the third spot, achieving the milestone in 65 innings.


Adding to the list, cricket stalwarts Shakib Al Hasan and Imrul Kayes accomplished the milestone in 69 innings, while Tamim Iqbal, another key figure in Bangladesh cricket, reached the mark in 70 innings.


Soumya has 12 fifties and three centuries in this format for Bangladesh.
