Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha was optimistic about the new opening pair of Soumya Sarkar and Litton Das in the T20 format.
The duo's performance in the second T20I was exceptional as they put together a partnership of 68 runs, giving the team a solid foundation in pursuit of a 166 runs and helping the host level the series 1-1.
Bangladesh has seen 13 different opening pairs in the past two years, and when asked about the importance of stability, Hathurusingha responded, "It's not about this pair but correcting what we have done wrong in the past,”
The head coach was hopeful that the team would move forward with the duo if they continued to perform.
"If something was working, I don't think they would have made so many changes. If it is working, we would love to see that continuity, not just the opening pair. Yes, the approach was very good," he said.
During the match, Bangladesh had a brilliant start, scoring 63 runs in the Powerplay. Hathurusingha praised the team for their outstanding comeback against Sri Lanka in second T20I.
"Look at the start we got, 63 [in Powerplay]. T20, it's very amazing. We don't see how many hundreds we are playing in world cricket. As long as they are playing for the team and contributing to the team, that's what we want,” he added.
He also lauded Soumya for his all-around contribution to the game, “Soumya got everything at the moment. He's got a crucial wicket for that game as Mendis was the most dangerous player in both games from their team,"
