Shami ruled out IPL due to anke injury

India pacer Mohammad Shami has been ruled out of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) due to his prolonged ankle injury.


The pacer underwent surgery on his right Achilles tendon in London on Monday. He posted on X about his current state and remained hopeful for quick recovery.


“Just had a successful heel operation on my Achilles tendon! Recovery is going to take some time but looking forward to getting back on my feet,” Shami wrote on X.

Shami's absence will be a massive blow for Gujarat Titans, who have traded Hardik Pandya in an all-cash deal to Mumbai Indians, naming Shubman Gill as their new skipper.


In the last couple of seasons, in which the Titans reached the final twice and even won the tournament in their inaugural season.


Shami hasn't played any cricket since India's ODI World Cup campaign, where he played a key part in India's run to the final, finishing as the leading wicket-taker in the competition with 24 wickets in seven matches at an average of 10.70 and strike rate of 12.20.
