Durdanto Dhaka's woes persisted as they concluded their Bangladesh Premier League 2024 campaign with a disheartening 11th consecutive loss, falling short by 10 runs against Chattogram Challengers in Chattogram on Saturday.
Despite an auspicious start with a victory over defending champions Comilla Victorians in their opener, Dhaka failed to secure another win throughout the tournament.
Chattogram, batting first, witnessed a commanding performance from opener Tanzid Tamim, who bludgeoned six sixes and a four en route to a brisk 51-ball 70.
Adding to the onslaught, Tom Bruce showcased his form with a blistering 35-ball 48, embellished with three fours and two sixes, propelling Chattogram to a total of 159 for six.
Dhaka's Shoriful was a standout performer yet again, claiming two crucial wickets to elevate his tally to 22 scalps for the tournament, making him the leading wicket-taker of the edition thus far.
In response, Alex Ross, the tournament's leading run-scorer, fought valiantly for Dhaka with a resilient 44-ball 55, featuring three sixes and four boundaries. Mosaddek Hossain contributed a spirited 18-ball 29, punctuated by five fours, in a late surge, but it fell short of halting Dhaka's relentless losing streak.
Ross concluded the tournament with an impressive total of 352 runs from 11 innings, while his teammate Naim Sheikh accumulated 310 runs from 12 outings.
Meanwhile, Chattogram's triumph propelled them past Khulna Tigers into fourth place, securing 12 points and ending their campaign on a positive note.
