Bangladesh first ODI cap Lipu named chief selector

Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu, former captain of the Bangladesh cricket team, was appointed as the new chief selector by BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon today at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) headquarters in Mirpur.
This decision comes after a board meeting where Lipu's credentials and experience were evidently compelling.
Stepping into the shoes of outgoing chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu, who has been an integral part of the selection panel since 2011 and held the chief selector position since 2016, Lipu brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to the role.
Joining Lipu on the national selection panel are former players Hannan Sarker and Abdur Razzaq, the latter retaining his position from the previous panel.
Notably absent from the lineup is Habibul Bashar, reflecting a shift in the composition of the selection team.
Lipu's illustrious career includes serving as a BCB director and as the team manager during Bangladesh's inaugural World Cup appearance in 1999.
As Bangladesh's first ODI captain, his experience both on and off the field is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the selection process, ensuring that the national team continues to evolve and thrive.
