‘Let rumours be rumours’, Shakib on his participation vs Sri Lanka

Bangladesh's all-format skipper, Shakib Al Hasan, left fans guessing about his participation in the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka at home in March.
Shakib, amidst fulfilling a commercial commitment in Banani, engaged with reporters, injecting humor into the conversation while addressing various speculations circulating in the media.
However, when pressed about rumors suggesting his potential absence from the Test matches, the ace all-rounder opted not to provide a definitive response, leaving room for speculation to persist.
"Who told you?" Shakib asked when he countered the reporter's question.
"Let rumours be rumours or you can find out who said it and ask him that. Did I say it? Did I say if I wanted to or didn't want to (skip the Sri Lanka Tests)? I think you should ask the person who you learned it from," he said.
The Tigers are set to face off against the Lankans in a packed series featuring three T20Is, as many ODIs, and the much-anticipated Tests, commencing on March 4, shortly after the conclusion of the Bangladesh Premier League.
There have been several media reports that claimed the 36-year-old would opt out of the Tests but Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials have so far denied such developments.
"I don't have any plans regarding the Sri Lanka series yet and am focusing on BPL and how I can contribute to the team," he said.
