Comilla demolish Chattogram in low scoring BPL match
|| CF DESK ||
Tanvir Islam took four wickets to bundle Chattogram Challengers for only 72 as Comilla Victorians cruised over the target for a seven-wicket victory in Sylhet on Friday.
Comilla's left-arm spinner, Tanvir achieved his career-best figures of 4 for 13 in four overs.
Supported by Aliss Al Islam, who claimed two wickets, Chattogram found themselves bundled out for a mere 72 runs in just 16.3 overs.
Having been put into bat, only two Chattogram batsmen managed to reach double figures.
Tom Bruce emerged as the top scorer with 27 runs, while Najibullah Zadran contributed 11 in what can only be described as an abysmal batting display by Chattogram.
In response, the defending champions effortlessly chased down the modest target with 10 overs to spare, courtesy of a blistering 13-ball innings from Towhid Hridoy, who amassed 31 runs with five fours and a six. Mohammad Rizwan remained unbeaten on 16 runs.
This triumph marked Comilla's return to the winning column, securing their third victory in five games.
Despite ending Chattogram's three-match unbeaten streak, the latter still maintains their second-place standing with four wins in six games. Khulna Tigers lead the table with an impeccable record of four wins in as many matches.
