Khulna thrash Barishal by eight wickets

Khulna Tigers beat Fortune Barishal by eight wickets in the BPL match-6 at the Sher e Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur.
Anamul Haque Bijoy's match-winning knock ensured Khulna's highest-run chase in this year's BPL. Bijoy top-scored with 63 runs off 44 balls aided by three 4's and an equal number of sixes.
Evin Lewis blasted a 22-ball 53 that featured five boundaries and five sixes helping Khulna register the highest Powerplay score in the BPL with 87 runs.
Then Afif Hossain and Anamul carried the momentum and added a 75-run second-wicket stand. Afif contributed with 41 off 36.
Khulna secured victory with two overs to spare, thanks to Shai Hope's unbeaten 25 off 10 deliveries in a quickfire cameo.
Earlier, Fortune Barishal set a challenging 187-4. Despite a shaky start to their innings, Barishal made a great comeback with Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar stormy batting in the first powerplay.
Khulna's foreign recruit Oshane Thomas drew the first blood by removing opener Ibrahim Zadran (11) when the struggling batter nicked Thomas and caught behind Shai Hope.
Soumya was playing aggressively and had scored some runs before he was dismissed by a direct throw from Habibur Rahman Sohan when he was on 17 runs. Captain Tamim continued to score runs and also put together a 57-run partnership with Mushfiqur Rahim.
Tamim scored 40 off 33 aided by five boundaries while Mushfiqur played a 39-ball 68 innings that featured five boundaries and four maximums.
Mahmudullah played a stormy knock of 27 off 19 having struck two 4's and an equal number of sixes. The all-rounder attempted to play a shot on the deep-mid wicket but gifted a wicket to Mukidul Islam with a catch to Habibur.
