Rangpur Riders coach Sohel Islam stated all-rounder Shakib al Hasan’s absence won’t affect the team's performance and they aim to play collectively as a team without worrying about an individual player.
Shakib has been ruled out of the BPL due to an eye problem, although he appeared in the first game for Rangpur against Fortune Barishal.
The all-rounder has gone to Singapore for specialized treatment. It is expected that he will join the Riders' camp during the Sylhet phase, but there is still uncertainty about his return.
"Players can get injured, it happens, they can leave the camp at any time. No matter the situation, we want to play as a team. In every match, there will be 7 to 8 players who will have an impact on the team's victory,” said Sohel.
“We want to play as a team. Some players might get injured. It can be a big player or an ordinary player. We are not worried about it. We are thinking about how everyone can do well together,” he said.
When the coach was asked about Shakib’s anticipated return he replied that it's up to the BCB as they hold all control.
“As for Shakib, it's up to the BCB’s medical team now. They can give a better opinion. We don't have a say in the court. They are looking at everything. We will see how they direct us," he added.
