North Zone crowned champions of BCL one-day format

North Zone emerged victorious against East Zone in the final of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) by four wickets at Sher e Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur.


Pritom Kumar and skipper Akbar Ali's half-century cruised North Zone to chase down a 276-run target in 43.4 overs.

Pritom registered 76 off 88 featuring six boundaries and a solitary six while Akbar smashed a 59-ball 53 with six fours and a six. 


Opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim gave a decent start to the North and contributed with 43 runs facing 46 deliveries hitting five boundaries and a maximum. Nasum took a couple of wickets for East Zone.


Earlier, Shahadat Hossain Dipu scored an unbeaten hundred to help East post 275-6 in the accumulated overs while batting first. 


He struck nine fours and two sixes to play the highest-scoring innings of 113 off 122 balls. While Mahmudul Hasan Joy starred with 73 runs. However, it wasn't enough to secure the victory over the North.


Nahid Rana was the pick of the bowlers claiming a fifer for North in the final and returning an impressive figure of five wickets conceding 50 runs in his 10 overs.
