Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed interim performance analyst Mohsin Sheikh Pervaiz for the upcoming white-ball series against New Zealand this month.
After bidding farewell to bowling coaches Allan Donald and Rangana Herath after the World Cup, Bangladesh's performance analyst, Shrinivas Chandrasekaran, has also parted ways.
While Mohsin has secured the responsibility for the New Zealand tour, there is speculation that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is contemplating a more extended contract, Jalal Yunus, the Chairman of BCB's cricket operations committee, confirmed this to Cricfrenzy.
"We have appointed Mohsin for the New Zealand series on an immediate basis. Based on his performance, a decision will be made for a two-year contract in the future" said Jalal.
Mohsin, born in Pakistan, is currently an Australian citizen. He worked with the youth team at Pakistan's National High-Performance Centre during the 2003-04 season. After leaving his job in Pakistan, he moved to Australia, where he now resides as a permanent resident of Pakistani descent.
Mohsin is actively involved in Australian domestic cricket, gaining popularity. He served as an assistant to Greg Chappell when he was the coach of the Australian youth team. Working in New South Wales, Mohsin served as a performance analyst for prominent Australian Big Bash League teams, including Brisbane Heat, Sydney Sixers, and Adelaide Strikers.
Apart from his contributions in Australia, Mohsin has experience working in various franchise leagues worldwide. In the 2008 Indian Premier League (IPL), he worked as an analyst for the Rajasthan Royals. During his time there, he collaborated with players like Shane Watson, Yusuf Pathan, Justin Langer, and Mohammad Kaif.
Following the IPL, Mohsin has worked in other T20 leagues, including the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), and T10 League. In the PSL, he worked with Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings, while in the BPL, he was associated with Chittagong Challengers. Moreover, he has worked for the Bangla Tigers during the T10 League.
